Youth Wing

Join the Youth Wing

Meetings: 2nd Saturday of each month
from 1-2:30
Bechtel Experimental Theatre

The Aiken Community Playhouse Youth Wing meets from 1 PM – 2:30 PM on the second Saturday of each month through May 2007 with the exception of November 2006 which will meet on the third Saturday.

The Youth Wing (YW) is open to all teenagers who are 12-18 years old. No auditions or pre-registration are needed for the basic YW group. All YW members will have the opportunity to learn acting fundamentals, improvisation skills, stage movement, and voice projection. Technical aspects of the theatre like set construction, set design, and lighting design are also presented during the course of the monthly meetings.

For the 2006-2007 season, the YW will have a Black Box show in the Bechtel Experimental theatre in November, a Main Stage show in March, and a Garden Theatre show in the summer. Please review the current season information for audition and performance dates.

Information and application for the memorial scholarships in honor of Will Cole, Parker Deans, and Joan Silverberg can be found here.
Your generous donations at the intermission soft drink counter make these YW scholarships possible.

Volunteers

Interested in Stagecraft? If you would like to volunteer your time and talent in the construction and dressing of stage sets, ACP is looking for you. ACP has a spacious, well-equipped shop that makes building sets a breeze (well, maybe not a breeze, but the work will be much easier than it was in our previous location). The rest of the season will require some elaborate sets. Now is a great time to volunteer a few hours, days, or weekends to show off your handiwork to ACP's appreciative audiences. Contact Vivian Ray during ACP office hours or leave a message at 648-1438. Our volunteer coordinator will contact you soon.

How Can I Get Involved in ACP? The fastest way to get involved in ACP is contact Vivian Lewis during office hours at 648-1438. She will take your name and number and contact the appropriate volunteer coordinator for your interest. We teach what you need to know. Another way to become involved at ACP is to attend an audition. Even if you do not want to act, the audition process is also used to assemble a stage and production crew for the production being cast. As Woody Allen once said, "90 percent of life is just showing up." That is also a great way to get involved with ACP.
