CAST NEEDED:
Oscar Madison 40's
The "messy" half of this famous "odd couple." Oscar takes pity on his best friend, the newly separated and nearly suicidal Felix Ungar, and invites Felix to live with him in his New York City apartment.
Felix Ungar 40's
The "neat" member of the "odd couple". Uptight and emotional. A 40-something-year-old news writer for CBS, Felix responds to his wife’s decision to end their marriage by considering suicide.
Murray 30's on up
Murray, one of the poker players, is a policeman and a methodical, even slow, thinker. He is also very gentle and caring, and demonstrates the most concern for Felix. Murray is fairly unflappable, but he is also a bit simple and naive.
Cecily Pigeon late 30's to 40's
One of the "Girls" from upstairs a little more uninhibited than her sister, Gwendolyn - British accent required.
Gwendolyn Pigeon late 30's to 40's
Gwendolyn is the "mother hen." Like her sister Cicely, Gwendolyn is attractive, and works as a secretary for the Slenderama Health Club. She is a little slower mentally than her sister - she has trouble remembering Felix's name. British accent required

CAST NEEDED:
Becca (late thirties/early forties) has shut down emotionally as a result of the incident. She appears to handle normal, daily activities, as any strong career woman would in her situation, but, in reality, has one foot in the moment and one in quiet madness, which makes this a plumb acting role for the actress who can avoid histrionics and play it naturally.
Howie (late 30s/early 40s) is visibly more emotional than his wife, Becca, in coping with the incident. Howie is NOT a weakling, however, and shouldn't be played as such.
Nat (60s) has the levity and poignancy that you would expect from a mom wanting to comfort her daughter and make everything all right. A lovely role for a veteran actress.
Izzy (early 30s) is dizzily hyper, but not ditsy. She's always been Becca's less responsible kid sister, but the actress playing her should exhibit character growth (need to show some range, here) with a depth of understanding and readiness to accept responsibility.
Jason (17-year-old) is a teenager exhibiting the usual goofiness, awkwardness, and a gentle cockiness you'd expect from an intelligent being of this age.

CAST NEEDED:
Morrie Schwartz 60-to-80-years-old - Morrie now suffers from ALS, a debilitating, incurable disease which ravages his body, but, cruelly, leaves him intellectually lucid. He had taught sociology at Brandeis, and continues to teach it to Mitch, instructing him on "The Meaning of Life," and how to accept death and aging. He does not suffocate his emotions, but shares them openly, and rejects the popular cultural norms in favor of creating his own system of beliefs.
Mitch Albom Late 20's-to-40-years-old - Morrie's former student at Brandeis University. After having abandoned his dreams of becoming a famous musician, he is disgusted by his desire for financial success and material wealth, though neither fill the void and unhappiness he feels. Each Tuesday, he learns from Morrie that he needs to reassess his life; and to value love over money, and happiness over success.
